Michael Thorpe is the Santa Rosa County Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment. He has been employed with the Santa Rosa County School System since 1991, and has received numerous recognitions for his work in the classroom and as an administrator.. He began his teaching career at Holley-Navarre Middle School, where he spent seven years teaching math, science, and technology. In 1998, he transferred to his Alma mater, Milton High School, where over the next eight years he taught math, web design, television production, 3-D animation, served as Dean and coached several sports. He became an Assistant Principal at Milton High in 2006 and became Principal of Milton High in 2009. In 2015, he moved to Director of Inservice and Instructional Technology for the Santa Rosa County School District. In 2015, he was principal of a U.S. News and World Report school awarded a bronze medial for best high school. That same year he was named Florida Innovative Principal of the Year, and he has several other honors for teaching and school leadership.
