Leticia Roman has served as the director of federal programs and grants development services for the 63,000-student Volusia County Schools in Florida since March 2013. Previously, she has held pivotal roles such as principal, assistant principal, coordinator of elementary schools, coach, and teacher, providing a comprehensive understanding of education at different levels. In her current role, Ms. Roman leads a department in managing millions of dollars in awarded grant funds. She plays a crucial part in offering curriculum and instructional support to administrators, teachers, and parents across the Volusia County Schools. She holds an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Stetson University, a M.S. in Education from Cortland University and a B.A. in both Elementary and Early Secondary Education from Cortland University. She was a recipient of Governor C. Crist Florida School Recognition Award for Turn-Around School Principal, recipient for Ida. S. Baker Distinguish Minority Educator, nominee for both Principal of the Year and Assistant Principal of the Year and selected as Member of the National Association of Professional Women. In 2017, she was honored with the NAFEPA Leadership Award, recognizing her commitment to the organization.
