James Hausman III is the high school PBL/STEAM Coordinator in South Fayette, a future-focused, student-centered, innovation-driven district outside Pittsburgh, PA. He is a former English teacher. His current work involves supporting teachers in their PBL journeys and securing school-business partnerships for experiential student learning. His students are state and nationally recognized for their design and invention work. His academic interests include AI ethics, CS, game studies, human-centered design, human-computer interaction, invention and maker learning, poetry, school-business partnerships, and Shakespeare. He co-advises his school’s Health Careers Club and advises the STEM, Girls STEM, and Technology Student Association clubs. He is a Pactful Ambassador, HP Teaching Fellow (Cohort 4), Project Invent Fellow, Samsung Teacher Academy Fellow, and PA Governor’s STEM Teacher. When not mentoring students to engineer their futures, you will likely find him traveling and wandering in far-flung places to see all the world’s many birds.
