Liz Triden has been in education for nearly 20 years. She discovered her passion for teaching through a class in law school called “Teaching Law in High School” where law students were paired with local high schools to teach a Street Law class (no lawyer jokes please, ha!). When Liz walked into that Civics classroom in Detroit Public Schools, it would change her life forever. From then on, she has pursued her career in education, teaching in a variety of contexts from Boston Public Schools to charter schools in Detroit, to suburban high schools, and now coming back full circle to lead the Science, Social Studies, and STEM curriculum division at Detroit Public Schools Community District. Teaching students how to think with materials that affirm who they are is at the heart of all she does.
