Katherine (Kathy) Hayes has worked for LAUSD since 2000, focusing on evaluating English Learner and ECE programs and directing staff who studied: special education, BIPOC student experience and achievement, parent education, and quality of instruction. Over the past 12 years, she has contributed to the School Experience Survey and assumed control of the Committee for External Research Review (CERR). CERR is the gatekeeper for all external research conducted in LAUSD. It works with university professors, graduate students, for profit and nonprofit research entities, curriculum and test developers, etc. Dr. Hayes has taught research methods classes at universities throughout LA County. She currently serves on the steering committee of the National Network for Educational Practice Partnerships (NNERPP). NNERPP supports partnerships between educational agencies and research institutions to improve the relationship between policy, research and practice. In addition, she was recently named by the US Department of Education to serve as a Regional Advisory Committee member for the Comprehensive Center Program for the West RAC.
